Background
As an independent centre of expertise on asylum, the EU Agency for Asylum (EUAA) produces the annual Asylum Report, which is the Agency’s flagship report, presenting an overview of developments in the field of international protection in Europe. The report includes information and perspectives from various stakeholders, including experts from EU+ countries, civil society organisations, researchers, and UNHCR.
Last year, 53 civil society organisations and research institutions provided contributions to the Asylum Report, adding to the diversity of perspectives presented in the report.

As the go-to source of information on international protection, the Asylum Report 2024 presents a comprehensive overview of key developments in legislation, practices and policies in Europe throughout 2023 and early 2024.
This year’s edition highlights measures taken by EU+ countries to manage over 1.1 million asylum applicants in addition to over 1.1 million new registrations for temporary protection.

As the go-to source of information on international protection in Europe, the annual EUAA Asylum Report provides a comprehensive overview of key developments in asylum in Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland (EU+ countries).
All aspects of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS) are covered by summarising changes to legislation, policy and practices at the European and national levels.
The annual review, provides an overview of the key highlights and developments earmarked the situation of asylum in the EU+ and it is an additional resource accompanying the EUAA Asylum Report 2023.

The report presents selected case law which has shaped the interpretation of European and national laws, as well as key statistical indicators for the 2021 reference year, which highlight emerging trends and the effectiveness of asylum systems.
